Solutions for Aerospace Manufacturing
Every partnership with Leica is influenced by one central idea: To supply our customers with unique, high-quality, cost-reducing and profitability-enhancing solutions in all areas of aerospace manufacturing.
Prototyping Eliminates Tooling, Nets Millions in Savings
Building complex prototypes can often grind a budget and timeline into mincemeat. With declining funds for space programs and tight budgets in the aerospace industry, every dollar spent is vital…every dollar saved is survival. Serving those industries, Carbon-Carbon Advanced Technologies, INC, (C-CAT) has taken steps to drive new efficiencies into longstanding practices. And their resourcefulness has yielded big rewards and quality products. C-CAT is a privately owned corporation and high-tech manufacturer specializing in the development of carbon-carbon structures for aerospace and commercial applications. more
Challenge of Assembling Airbus A380
The project for the assembly of the A380 was begun in 1998. Numerous new challenges had to be mastered: the extraordinary size of individual segments, the oval shape of the aircraft itself (round on other aircraft), double-decker fuselage, and so on. Besides, the tools used for the A340 had to be carried over. more
A380 production relies on Leica T-Probe
It hardly needs saying that measurement inaccuracies during aircraft construction can have enormous negative consequences. That is why the issues of quality assurance and measurement technology assume such paramount importance in the fields of aviation and space travel. And that is also why Airbus uses no fewer than seven Leica Geosystems Laser Trackers in its Bremen factory. By using the tracker in combination with the new T-Probe, the Bremen-based team has been able to achieve considerable savings in terms of both cost and time. The revolutionary hand-held Leica T-Probe enables inspection of hidden points and probing in areas unreachable by traditional probing solutions. more
Eurocopter ups production by 70%
Eurocopter, the world's leading helicopter manufacturer, has improved production line efficiency by up to 70% in just a few years - thanks to two new state-of-the-art Laser Tracker measurement systems from Leica Geosystems. more
Eurocopter optimizes measuring with laser trackers
(Reporter 50, April 2004) Laser Trackers are commonly used primarily in the automobile and aerospace industries and are gaining increasingly greater popularity due to their flexibility and high measuring precision. Eurocopter, the world's leading helicopter manufacturer, has improved production line efficiency by up to 70% in just a few years - thanks to two new state-of-the-art Laser Tracker measurement systems from Leica Geosystems. more
Bombardier deploys Leica Laser Trackers for testing and measurements
With more than 58000 employees in five continents and revenues of more than 16 billions CA$, Bombardier is a major international company. Although their extensive product line includes snowmobiles, speedboats and fast-train transit systems Bombardier is best known for their aerospace division.  more
